課程概述

This is an introductory course for Ordinary Differential Equations (ODE).
We will cover at least 70% of chapter 1 to Chapter 10 of the textbook
{\bf Differential Equations with Boundary-Value Problems} by {\bf Dennis Zill and Warren Wright}. We shall emphasize the 1st order ODE, higher order linear ODE or systems of 1st order linear ODE with constant coefficients,
2nd order linear ODE, and 2 by 2 automonous first order systems. Various methods will be introduced to find {\bf exact, series}, or {\bf approximate} solutions to above-mentioned ODEs. Various applications and motivations will come in hand as the course progresses. A more detailed course contens (a week
by week descriptions) will be given at the first class date.
 

課程目標
 The instructor hopes that the students can learn from this course the basic techniques of solving a {\bf solvabe} ODE, and appreiciate their wide variety of applications.  
課程要求
 Home work: 20%. Midterm: 40%. Final: 40%. \\
At the end of each lecture, the instructor will give 5 to 10 problems for students to take home as homework problems. The students are required to turn in the solutions of these problems to TA. The TAs will grade these problems. These homework grades counts all 20% of the course grade.
MIDTERM DATE: 11/08/2014, 9 am to 12 am. FINAL DATE: 01/10/2015, 9 am to 12 am.
